Karen’s story. In memory of Ben
The loss of a child, no matter how old they are, to a parent is the greatest loss that you can ever experience.
Being part of a group of people that understand what this loss means, what it’s been about, how traumatic it’s been when someone’s been killed in road trauma that is really helpful. Because they do get it. They understand.
It took over two hours for them to free me from the wreckage. I wasn’t expected to survive.
To know that I wasn’t alone and that there were people there that understood the feelings and emotions I was experiencing, and how to deal with them, was really really helpful.
I was in a coma for a week and a half and spent three months in hospital, and years and years of rehab.
Anyone can pick the phone up and get in touch with someone that knows what they are going through is great. It’s really, really good.
Manny’s story. In memory of Jack
My husband heard the sound. The collision. He ran back to find Jack pinned under the truck. There was nothing he could do.
Days later I called the office, and spoke to a Counsellor. She calmed me, gave me hope. They are incredible people. Others can imagine, but they understand.
